Rant # 5

Charlie is on the. left. Roxy is on the right and my leg is in the bottom left hand corner.

Today I want to share the story of Roxy and Charlie. As you can see they not only love me but they deeply love each other. They patiently share the same food dish. When one of them finishes eating or drinking, the other one waits to make sure it's ok to take their turn. They both show so much love and respect for each other. It is a lesson in the kind of unconditional love I was talking about yesterday.

They respect each other's space but never want to be far apart. They don't have to smother each other but they are never far apart. If Roxy is on the couch, Charlie will mirror her directly underneath . If something captures their attention that needs to be looked into they wake up together and rush to investigate. Charlie hangs back and let's Roxy do the barking if necessary. Then Charlie comes running to me or Jon and barks at us to let us know that something exciting is afoot.

Watching them every day is such a love tutorial. Pup love lessons 101. I learn a lot from them. I try to be just like them in the way I approach my relationships. Loyal, respectful, patient, and eager to please. If I had a tail I would try to keep it wagging, just as they do. The best I can do is maintain a pleasant expression. That works too.

The point to all this is that we can learn by watching creatures who don't judge. In many ways they seem far more evolved than most of us. It is something we can work on and try to apply the prinipals that our pets teach us.
As always these are my feelings. I share them with you in the hope that these feelings will resonate with you. I am so grateful for your comments and support.

Peace and Love,

  1. Loved your posting as always! loved the pics also! what wonderful companions you and Jon have!

  2. Ok, so maybe I'm not so eloquent when I check my phone for messages in the wee hours when I'm supposed to be sleeping! I love your blog, keep it up!

  3. Bill, your dogs are so precious! A very good blog today! There is much to be learned from an animal that is not judgmental and who also loves their mate, friends, and their human unconditionally.
I pray that anyone wanting a great companion, to please go the shelters to find them! Some do come with issues but all they want is to be loved and eventually, they will come around!
I love my Maynard and Chester!

  4. Your pups are adorable, Bill! They sound absolutely wonderful. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats (at our peak, we had 3 dogs and 5 cats!). Love my animals -- the cats surround me when I'm at the computer (or sleeping) and the dogs are always nearby as well. Keep posting pictures of them -- so cute!
